Nick Hensman
Nick is The Rolling Mill’s Jeweller Goldsmith and Director. He’s been in the fine jewellery industry since 2008 and has developed strong eye for detail and fine finishing over the past 17 years. Nick won the New Zealand Jewellery Showcase Awards as a first-year apprentice in 2009 and has maintained an award-winning high standard.
After overseas travel, Nick returned to New Zealand and created The Rolling Mill. Nick has always loved the aesthetics and quality of completely handmade jewellery, staying true to the craft of traditional jewellery-making, to retain skills that have been passed down from thousands of years of jewellers before him.
Nick will be delighted to work with you on your journey to designing a customised piece of fine jewellery for you, or a loved one.
Nick wears an 18ct Yellow Gold modified signet-style wedding ring with a polished face and a special textured finish applied to the band.
Vee Hensman
Vee is our Creative Director with a background in design, contributing to the creative process and customer communications at The Rolling Mill.
Vee specialises in the procurement of world-class diamonds and precious coloured gemstones for our atelier collection and clientele. Vee will be happy to assist you in finding the perfect diamond and/or gemstone that will be the centrepiece of a TRM Custom design.
In 2018, Vee led the concept and design for our entry into the Best Design Awards, resulting in a silver medal for the design Sacred Volcanoes.
Vee wears 18ct Yellow Gold and her favourite gemstone is Green Sapphire from The Gemfields in Queensland. “This Sapphire has so much incredible character and vibrance unlike anywhere else in the world. The combination of blue and yellow hues combining to create beautiful blends of green, this is a stand-out gemstone for me.”
Jan Bekker
Meet the newest member of our team, Jan Bekker. Senior Jeweller Goldsmith, all round great guy. Jan has been designing and creating jewellery for 22 years. He has an exceptional eye for detail and is passionate about jewellery making, design, and art in general. Jan brings a wide skill set to The Rolling Mill; hand engraving, precious metal sculpture, carving and textural elements, as well as delivering a fresh new take with fine jewellery designs. We are so pleased to have welcomed Jan and his family here with us in New Zealand, we are excited to see what the future holds!

Nigel Wong
Our master Jeweller Goldsmith here at The Rolling Mill. Nigel is also an award-winning jeweller and has been making incredible fine jewellery for 50 years. He has a sharp eye for constructing and finishing spectacular jewellery pieces and brings a wealth of traditional jewellery-making knowledge and experience. We are incredibly lucky to have Nige on the team here with us.

Clove & Iggy
Miniature Dachshunds Clove (left) and Iggy (right) may be small, but they have a huge presence here at the studio. Breaking the hearts of dog-lover customers that visit. It’s possible you may meet them during your next visit.
